Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Complete acceptable repairs within a reasonable or scheduled time to keep “down time” to a minimum.
§ Maintain a high quality of work, which will result in a minimum of “call backs”.
§ Ability to perform both independently or as part of a team, a variety of jobs on varied equipment and vehicles as assigned.
§ Perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
§ Perform repairs both in shop and field as required, this may include inclement weather.
§ Exercise judgment while performing work to ensure work is performed both satisfactorily and safe, and potential problems are identified and repaired.
§ When required consult with Shop and Equipment Coordinator on repair projects.
§ Willing to personally upgrade skills as needed to keep current with Industry Standards.
§ Perform other shop related tasks and maintain a clean and safe work area.
§ Willing to work overtime or be “on call” in instances as requested by the Shop and Equipment Coordinator.
§ Heavy lifting may be required periodically.
§ Operation of overhead crane.
§ Ability to operate and understand the use of diagnostic equipment.
§ This is a shop environment and as such noise becomes a factor from time to time, the use of hearing protection will be required. Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved foot protection is also required.
§ Adherence to internal policies and procedures is required.
§ Provide superior customer service to both internal and external clients.
§ Participate in and contribute to safety meetings and job hazard assessment reviews.
§ Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Aptitudes:
§ Hold a valid class 1 or 3 with a Q endorsement considered as an asset (you will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract prior to beginning employment).
§ Basic knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment considered an asset.
§ Basic knowledge of operation of machining equipment (e.g., lathe, drill press).
§ Demonstrate and execute safe and skilful operation of equipment at all times.
§ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
§ Display enthusiasm, a “can-do” attitude, and ability to follow through and produce results.
