GROUNDSKEEPER – 1 Seasonal Position (April 29, 2013 – August 30, 2013)
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining Rocky View County cemeteries, parks, municipal reserves and environmental reserves. In addition, the position is responsible to provide assistance to senior team members in the preparation of cemetery services. Due to the sensitive nature of cemetery operations, a mature and positive attitude is necessary for this position.

Key Accountabilities:
|
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain grounds across the County through to include: mowing, trimming, laying sod, watering, and landscaping; planting trees and shrubs; maintaining planted flowers and flower beds; and manual weed control.
- Operate up to Sixty (60) horse power tractors, riding and push mowers, rototillers, weed whips, chain saws, gators, half (1/2) ton and one (1) ton trucks as well.
- Prepare sites for burial to include: opening and closing of ground; setting greens and lowering devices; and gravesite reclamation.
- Install, maintain, level and repair flat memorial markers.
- Assist with rodent control and herbicide application as required.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of nursery and / or greenhouse.
- Assist with minor maintenance projects.
- Perform and actively participate in tailgate safety meetings, hazard identification and mitigation as required.
- Provide superior customer to both internal and external clients.
- Maintain County vehicles and equipment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate skill in operating hand and power equipment and backhoe.
- Exercise independent judgment to maintain quality standards.
- Display courtesy, tact, a customer service attitude, and a desire to represent Rocky View in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform demanding tasks including: bending, shovelling, heavy lifting (up to 50 – 60 lbs) and operating equipment for extended periods of time.
- Hold a valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s permit (you will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract prior to beginning employment).
- Equipped with your own CSA work boots.
